The artist's primary medium is ceramics; however, recently she has also been working with textiles, glass, and epoxy resin. The main theme of Maya Haritonova's works is the duality of perception of fleeting beauty, exploring the aesthetics of fragility and destruction. The artist conveys in her materials sensations, randomness, and instability, as if these objects were not meant to exist. Her compositions consist of shards and fragments united by chance, each subject to eventual destruction. The material and her work with it hold special significance for her: Maya intentionally seeks to relinquish control during the creative process, breaking technological standards and making unpredictability an integral part of her artistic expression.
